And here we go again.

So as I'm sitting in my hospital bed in New York Presbyterian hospital, with 2 IVs in my arms, tape on my mouth from where an NG tube used to be, and a view of Roosevelt Island out my window, I decided to log on to my old blog. And I read it. I laughed. I cried. I raised my eyebrows. I blushed out of embarrassment. I was shocked at the spelling and grammar mistakes that I saw. And then decided to make a new blog.

So here it is. Let's hope I actually write in it this time.

  1. I hope you stick with it! Speaking as a fellow Ostomate, it's encouraging to read another's blog about life as one.

    Best Wishes!

  2. casey - i read your blog yesterday and it made me laugh/cry/wish i had been friends with you when i was 13 and having crohn's issues. hell, it made me wish i was friends with you now - and i'm 29. and therefore so ancient that the internet wasn't around when i was 13 and having all manner of trouble with my butt/stomach/self-esteem. but hey - i grew up, i went to oxford university, i became a lawyer, got bored, started writing, and now i write tv drama, here in london where i live. why am i telling you that? i guess because i never really imagined growing up and living independently, back in the bad old days. but i did. and reading your blog, it just totally reminded me of me, except that you're a way better writer at 13 than i was. so...THANK YOU for writing about this, please keep writing - about this or about whatever, as i think you're a pretty fantastic writer. would love to hear how you are so hope you keep on writing. meanwhile, all the best Nicole

  3. Hey Casey, you may never look at this or your other blog again, but I accidentally found it yesterday when my gf and I were looking up the word "ostomate" (long story, involves a trip to Japan). Now, I'm sure you've been told this exactly 2,582 times in your life, including by the English lady who commented above me, but I'm going to tell you again: you have a PHENOMENAL GIFT for writing. Phenomenal. Gift. Writing. Please please please PLEASE remember that. While I hope you continue blogging, as you somehow manage to make living with a terrible medical condition hilarious and touching, my real hope is that you just continue writing. Write a novel, a story, a pamphlet, horoscopes -- anything. You're smart, funny and better than most writers twice your age. Hell, three times your age. My girlfriend is an accomplished writer/playwright and she was floored by what you were able to do as an eleven(!)-year-old. I can only imagine you're writing the Great American Novel or a sequel to Dante's Inferno now that you're a few years older... at least I hope so. Hopefully your health has taken a turn for the better. Take care of yourself. Write!!
